The Mackinac Bridge in Northern Michigan is an awesome and wonderful place to paint. Connecting the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan, it offers a tremendous fresh water view of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
Many Michigan paintings have been done of this bridge, but I have never seen one done from this view ON THE BRIDGE. Whether you are above it, below it or on it , you feel the immensity of the whole thing.
Once a year on Labor Day it is open for the annual BRIDGE WALK. 5 MILES over (then a bus ride back)
This painting was done from a photo I took on the way over the bridge. It really reflects the bright light conditions that afternoon.
